Alright, I have to point out something that’s been bothering me.
One of the first things I noticed about Nyreen when the camera got close to her were her eyes. As highlighted in the pictures above, you can see that she vertical slit pupils while Garrus has rounded pupils.

I knew this without even having to look at Garrus because I have looked at his face more times than I can count I just remember things like that. The small details.
What I’m wondering, is if there is a reason why Nyreen has vertical slit pupils while all of the male turians I have ever seen have rounded pupils? Or was this just some more Bioware inconsistency?

If it was done on purpose, I have a few thoughts as to why. I spent a bit of time researching the differences in pupil shapes in animals and humans, and there aren’t a lot of things to make note of. It ends up being their retinas and the rest of their eyes that affect their sight more than the shape of their pupils.
As far as cats go (and I hate to compare Turians to cats, because that association annoys the crap out of me), their vertical slit pupils combined with tapetum lucidum helps them to see better; especially in low light situations. When their irises contract to form a slit, it improves depth of field, just like a camera. There’s no evidence that says turians have tapetum lucidum, but I was just pointing out that the two are related.
The only thing I can make of this is that the female turians have these types of eyes because they were the hunters of their species when they were more primitive, and that trait still carried on through evolution. They are still built like predators with their forward-facing eyes, sharp teeth and talons, and slender bodies built for agility. In many animal species, the females gather and catch their prey (and the wiki does say that turians are carnivores) and return it to the male(s). I believe this is completely possible that this was once true of turians.

Of course, I think the more likely case is that Bioware just didn’t think about it/care and that’s why Nyreen has vertical slit pupils and all the other turians in all three games don’t.
All I’m saying could be inaccurate or total nonsense, as I’m not an expert in any of these things, and it’s just an observation. And I’m sure no one else noticed or gave a crap about it but me.
